The QV Scotland Team & Pseedco Teams at Potatoes in Practice 2011

The QV Scotland team including members of the procurement team and Pseedco attended the 2011 ‘Potatoes in Practice‘ industry event on 11 August at Balruddery Farm, Dundee.
Despite heavy rain fall the event still commanded a good turnout with large numbers of growers visiting the QV Foods / Pssedco stand seeking advise and information from the team.
Potatoes in Practice is the biggest field potato event in the UK and brings together farmers, agronomists and scientists with variety trials and research all in one place making it an unmissable date in the potato industry calendar.
The event sponsored by The Potato Council and featured trials and demonstrations from The James Hutton Institute, SAC, Masstock Arable (UK) Ltd (formerly CSC Potato Care) and the potato industry.
The Programme for Potatoes in Practice 2011 consisted of the following :
9.30am - 4.30pm : Marquee and Machinery and outdoor exhibits : Field plots, manned from 10am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4.30pm.
10am, 11.30am and 1.30pm : Guided tours of field plots.
10.30am and 2pm : Seminar by Dr Gerry Sandler, SASA ‘Plant Health Challenges : control and regulation - we all have a part to play‘.
11.10am and 2.40pm : Seminar by Mark Prentice, Potato Council and Robert Burns, SASA ‘Seed exports - challenges and opportunities‘.
11.50am and 3.20pm : Seminar by Dr John Kerr, SASA ‘Potato Cyst Nematodes : the impact of the new EU Directive in Scotland‘.
1pm : Address outside marquee by Alan Stevenson, Chairmen, Potato Council and Professor Iain Gordon, Chief Executive, The James Hutton Institute.
