Ben Kay Testimonial - Celebrity Charity Golf Day

AH Worth / QV Foods were proud to host a Celebrity Charity Golf day on 12th May. The event took place at the company’s Hovenden Park Golf course, on the outskirts of Holbeach, Lincolnshire, in support of England & Leicester Tigers rugby union player Ben Kay’s Testimonial season.

All eighteen holes, were very kindly sponsored by local companies who work closely in conjuction with the AH Worth Group of companies. QV Foods Sales & Marketing Director and self-confessed rugby fan Simon Martin said: “The support shown by both the companies we already work alongside and those in the local area who were keen to offer the services and products for the day cannot be underestimated. I would like to thank them all for their efforts in making this such a successful day.”

The day consisted of a ladies round in the morning, which nine teams entered. After a very close contest, the winning quartet was made up of Jane Thompson, Lynn Exley, Emma Bell and Nix Hutchinson. The ladies were then joined by the mens teams, for a lunch produced by legendary chef Pierre Koffman and QV Foods’ Development Chef Claire Harrison, inspired by local produce and meats.

After lunch, 10 mens teams, each including one of Ben’s Leicester Tigers teammates played 18 holes and, after an afternoon of great competition the winning team was Andrew Riddington, Nick Caton, Steve Vanstone and Craig Newby.

The attention then swung back to Pierre and Claire, who struck up the BBQ and cooked a selection of Lincolnshire produced sausages, burgers and ribs. Several fundraising events raised several thousand pounds for Ben’s nominated charities Help for Heroes, the Matt Hampson Trust & the British Heart Foundation.

Sarah Worth commented: “The day was a great success, the sun shone and the course was in glorious condition for the time of year. Everyone seemed to have had a wonderful day, either on the golf course or back in the marquee, enjoying some great food and fantastic company. Most importantly, we have managed to generate a fantastic amount of money for the charities that Ben is supporting as part of this Testimonial season with Leicester Tigers.”
