QV FOODS team competes in Corporate Rugby 7s Tournament

QV Foods had a good result against HSBC in their first game and they also beat Westleigh who went onto win the Bowl.

GForce took top honours in the second annual National Corporate Sevens at Welford Road on Friday.

Coming through the qualifying stages and the semi-finals, GForce beat ABF 35-0 in the final on a sun-baked afternoon at the home of Leicester Tigers.

Twelve teams battled it out, with high-quality rugby throughout the day, leading up to finals in the cup, bowl and plate.

Former Tigers, England and Lions scrum-half Harry Ellis was back on home ground to present the prizes, which proved hard-earned on such a warm day.

Westleigh beat HSBC Developments 19-12 in the Bowl final, and Knight Frank topped William Hercock 40-21 in the Plate competition, before GForce and ABF brought the curtain down on the day with another good encounter in the main competition.

The day also featured plenty of activities for supporters with bungee run, bucking bronco, bouncy castle and facepainters for youngsters, displays from the RAF Reserves, the Caterpillar recruitment roadshow and David Lloyd Narborough.

Tigers’ new mobile unit - known as The Maul - hosted a Speed Pass challenge and the Spot The Ball wall, while the Final Whistle bar and hog roast proved popular with teams and supporters.

The event was sponsored by Caterpillar, Lucozade, David Lloyd Fitness Centres and Brian Cleaver Wholesale, and supporting charities were Hope Against Cancer and ABF the Army Benevolent Fund.
