QV Foods Bulk Process 5th Annual Sea Fishing Trip

The much anticipated 5th Annual QV Bulk Process Sea Fishing Trip attended by Customers, Growers and QV BP staff set sail from Brancaster Harbour on Friday 6th July 2012.

The weather forecast looked promising but started out very wet as we caught the back of the overnight storms which had seen many places in North Norfolk witnessing up to 3 inches of rain.

Luckily the Sea was calm and by early afternoon the Sun won over the rain and by late afternoon and in to the evening we had some blue sun filled skies.

Fishing started late morning for Mackerel for both ‘Keepers’ and ‘Bait’ for the Tope fishing later in the afternoon. By early afternoon we had caught over 50 Mackerel and set up for the Tope. (Tope are a member of the Shark family and can reach up to 70lbs around the Norfolk coast).

By the end of the day we had caught near 80 Mackerel and three Tope with the Tope ranging from 32lbs to 36lbs.

Two of the Tope were caught by Tommy Charteris of the GW Tayto Group securing him the days winning position.

The smallest catch of the day went to Chris Marshall of QV Foods whose single Mackerel surprised many with how such a small fish could even fit a hook in its mouth...!

Dinner at The Lifeboat Hotel at Thornham rounded off a very enjoyable day that brought Customer, Grower and supplier relationships closer.
