ASDA launch their Jersey Royal Potato campaign for 2010

The Jersey Royal potato is one the most iconic fresh produce brands in the UK and this year Asda along with long term supplier QV Foods is getting behind this famous potato as part of their Season's Best campaign

Asda have been listening to their customer’s who are passionate about the Jersey Royal potato, which is the first new season British potato of the year, and in response the first Jersey Royal potatoes are now in Asda stores retailing at £1 for 454g a pack (£1 for 1lb), a whole 8 weeks earlier than last year.

The close working relationship that Asda has with its Jersey supplier, combined with careful planning, has enabled Asda to secure the supply of these very early Jersey Royal potatoes.

Des Wilson, Asda Buyer, adds “Asda are famous for making shopping more affordable every day for its customers and we are proud to have Extra Special Jersey Royal potatoes on our shelves at the very start of the season, earlier than ever before, and at a great value price”.

Jersey Royal potatoes are unique to the Island of Jersey and their individual, nutty flavour is derived from the rich fertile earth and gentle climate that Jersey offers.

All Jersey Royals are hand planted and many of the earliest potatoes are lifted by fork and then hand-picked, before being carefully sorted to ensure that every potato arriving at its final destination is of the best quality.
